COURSE OFFERINGS

represents course topics generally offered every semester.

ALLIED
HEALTH (Search for PALH & VALH)
Staying current is vital to health care workers. Our offerings include
a nurse refresher program, CPR classes, system based assessment skill
builders, procedure updates, nurse aide certification exam review sessions,
Spanish for the health professional and more.
ANIMAL
CARE & TRAINING (Search for CPET)
The focus is on a variety of four-legged friends --- large and small.
The classes provide information on how to train, care for and maintain
the health of dogs, cats and horses.
ARTS
& CRAFTS (Search for CCRF)
Artisans and crafters, and "would be" artisans and crafters,
can enjoy a variety of workshops from painting to sewing. It's fun, it's
creative and it improves artistic skills.
BUSINESS
MANAGEMENT (Search for CBSM)
Directed toward the average "person on the street," these classes
cover everyday skills needed for up-and-coming entrepreneurs: consulting,
home businesses, easy approach to accounting, etc. We also have on-line
classes.
COMPUTER
SKILLS (Search for CCMP, for online classes CMSP or CWEB)
Whether you are a "techie" or whether you've never touched a
computer, we have a course designed for you. Classes range from PC Literacy
to Advanced Web Page Design. We also have on-line classes.
COOKING
(Search for COOK)
Attention cooking buffs. We offer an assortment of hands-on culinary classes
that will hone your cooking skills in ethnic cuisine, gourmet desserts,
delicious appetizers and ever so much more.
DANCE
(Search for CDAN)
Here's your chance to boogie, bop or two-step. Learn the latest moves
that are all the rage or step into the more traditional dances.
ENGLISH
AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (Search for CESL)
Here's your opportunity to improve your English language skills through
these fee-based classes in grammar review and preparation for the TOEFL
exam.
FINANCIAL
MANAGEMENT (Search for CFIN)
From retirees to first-time investors to serious stockholders, we offer
classes that will fit your financial and investment needs. There is even
a class on how to get out of debt.
GARDENING
(Search for CGAR)
A host of spring weekend workshops will show you how to plant and maintain
your yard and garden. Learn about annuals, perennials and other plants.
Make your home the envy of the neighborhood.
HOME
DESIGN & REPAIR (Search for CHOM)
A plethora of workshops will help you improve your interior design skills;
learn the basics of upholstery; add to your knowledge of building inspection
and the building construction process; and make informed choices about
buying foreclosure properties.
LANGUAGE

It's conversations from around the world. Participants can learn to speak
one of several European languages or Chinese or even Sign Language. Includes
beginning and intermediate levels. We also have on-line classes.
MEDIA
COMMUNICATION (Search for CMEC)
Learn basic audio engineering skills in a modern recording environment.
Classes are held off campus at a working studio.
MIND
& BODY (Search for CBOD)
This popular section offers a holistic approach to emotional, spiritual
and physical health. You can immerse yourself in Yoga, Feng Shui, Reiki,
Tai Chi Chuan and many other uplifting classes.
MUSIC
(Search for CMSC)
For you virtuosos, you can learn how to jam through private instrument
instruction in jazz, classical, and other types of music. For you singers,
there are several choir classes.
We also have on-line classes.
PARENTING
ONLINE (Search for CPAR)
Brush up on your parenting skills by taking part in online classes in
the convenience of your home. These user-friendly courses are helpful
to parents, teachers and caregivers.
PERSONAL
DEVELOPMENT (Search for CPER)
Looking for an easier, more efficient way to get through life? Attend
a personal development class to enhance your skills in getting organized.
PERSONAL
HEALTH & WELLNESS (Search for CWEL)
COPING and HEALING. In this series of classes, you can learn how to cope
with fibromyalgia and emotional eating. You will also learn how to deal
with stress, negative behavior patterns and everyday pressures that can
erode health and happiness.
PHOTOGRAPHY
(Search for VPTO or CPTO)
This class series is a siren's song to shutterbugs looking to develop
their skills. Improve your darkroom techniques, landscape and travel photography,
and people photography.
PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT (Search for CPRO)
Several courses grant continuing education units (CEU's) from the professional
organization, IACET (International Association of Continuing Education
& Training). If the goal is to enhance your resume, increase your
abilities in a current position, or fine-tune your business skills this
subject area is for you. We also have on-line classes.
REAL
ESTATE (Search for VVOC or CVOC)
As an approved provider through the Office of Banks & Real Estate
(OBRE), we offer prelicense education for salespersons and brokers. Continuing
Education is also available for already licensed agents. Even if you don't
need a license, we cater to the real estate investor through general public
classes.
SPORTS
& FITNESS (Search for CREC)
From team games to individual fitness programs, these classes cover the
gamut of indoor and outdoor activities. Join in volleyball, self defense,
aerobics, golf and so much more.
TEACHER
EDUCATION (Search for CTCH)
Teacher professional development is a priority for the ISBE and for CLC.
Earn CPDU's through high quality classes that focus on priorities defined
by practicing teachers - technology in the classroom, special education,
and classroom management techniques - just to name a few.
TEST
PREPARATION (Search for CCOL)
Preparation
series for GRE, LSAT and SAT/ACT Tests. These courses are on-line.
VOCATIONAL
TRAINING (Search for CVOC)
Learn a trade. Gain a skill. You have your choice of several vocational
training courses that include security officer, private investigation,
flagger certification, piloting and more. We also have on-line classes.
WATER-WASTEWATER
(Search for CWTR)
Anyone holding an IEPA certification for drinking water is responsible
for completing continuing education. Join us for topics ranging from fluoridation
to chlorination and gain up-to-date information while completing renewal
requirements.
WRITING
(Search for CWRT)
Scribblers from most genres will learn how to write, publish and market
their work. This comprehensive series offers a large selection of classes,
workshops and an occasional writer's conference. We even have a writer's
