Family Advocacy Program - Great Lakes

The Victim Advocate provides a safe and confidential way for victims of spouse abuse to seek assistance, and provides information concerning victims rights and safety planning. The Victim Avocate also advocates on behalf of victims for civilian and military orders of protection and can assist with transportation. (03/07)

Mental Health Screening

Provides free on-line and anonymous mental health screening for veterans, active duty personnel, and their families. This is a Department of Defense contractor. The screening results in recommendations for assistance and links for that assistance.

Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village  is the first medical center to receive state-of-the-art computers and Aphasia software designed to promote speech, language and cognitive development to veterans who are victims of stroke and head injury. 

The addition of these workstations has called for an expansion of the current Vet Center located in the Roncoli Center on the hospital campus. 

The resource center offers psychological counseling as well as practical guidance for accessing benefits and services available to veterans. The resource center is open on Thursdays, with drop-in hours between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. and appointment hours between 12 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.   

ABHS is partnering with the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to offer the resource center. ABHS is providing the space, at the VA department is providing a psychologist and a service officer to work with veterans and their families.
